Put the belt on
Wearing your seat belt is the single most important thing you should do before driving. Studies have shown that wearing your seat belt can reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50 percent. Make it a habit. Seat belts have saved more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008. In all but one state it is mandatory to wear it. New Hampshire is still the only state not to pass the law.
In recent years, the number of people wearing their seat belt has increased significantly. In 2009 it was at a national average of 88 percent compared to 69 percent in 1998. Although the message is getting across we still need to be aware. Even if you just taking a trip to the local market that belt needs to go on. We’ve all heard that most accidents occur within ten miles of the home. This should make us all stop and think about it. Gerber Collision and Glass cannot stress this issue enough. Make sure your seat belts are in good working condition. There should never be an excuse not to wear it.
